The Rule of Publishing and Screening for the Journal of Greco-Roman Studies
I. PurposeThis rule aims to establish the principles of the publication and screening process for the papers submitted to the Journal of Greco-Roman Studies (JGRS) published by the Korean Society of Greco-Roman Studies.
II. Editorial BoardAll the business relating to the publication and screening for JGRS is supervised by the editorial board.
III. Date of PublicationJGRS appears three times a year, on the last day of March, September and December. If necessary, a special issue can be published on the last day of June.
IV. Submission of papers- 1. The submission of a paper is limited to regular members of the Korean Society of Greco-Roman Studies as a rule. However, non-members may submit a paper in the following cases.
- (1) the contribution relating to the project of the society.
- (2) joint research project conducted with a regular member of the society as a chief of research or collaborator.
- 2. An associate member or an honorary member may submit his/her article to JGRS if recommended by two or more regular members of the society.
- 3. The submitted paper should not be published in any other publications. The paper should be creative in content.
- 4. The detailed instructions for submission can be found in a separate set of guidelines.
- 1. Submitted articles are evaluated by three referees expert in the area of the topic, recommended by the editorial board.
- 2. The identity of the author in the submitted paper should be removed.
- 3. The names of the referees are not revealed.
- 1. The referees should be objective and impartial in evaluation, using the forms (1) and (2) attached to a letter of evaluation.
- 2. When the referees are not in accord, the following criteria should be applied in deciding the publication of a submitted article.

- 3. When the referees are not in accord, the following criteria should be applied in deciding the publication of a submitted article.
- 4. The reports of evaluation are to be sent to authors with the attachment form (2) in order to inform them about a verdict whether the submitted paper is accepted for publication or not.
- 5. For other works submitted to JGRS, such as research notes, book reviews and reports,the editorial board can select a referee to evaluate the submitted works, if necessary.
- 1. The editorial board makes a final decision, considering the evaluation results of submitted articles on the basis of the following conditions: (1) space limit in the related issue, (2) subject matter of submitted articles, (3) previous publication history of the author, (4) length of the submitted paper, (5) schedule of the publication, (6) forms of the contributions (articles, research notes, book reviews, reports, etc.), (7) total number of the submitted papers.
- 2. Even the papers requested by the society can be rejected by the decision of referees.
- 3. The rejected article cannot be reconsidered for a publication.
- 4. When an article that has been accepted could not be published due to limited space in the ongoing issue, it should be published immediately in the next issue.
- 1. In principle, the society does not pay for contributed papers. However, if submitted works are related to the project of the society, a certain amount of payment can be madeto contributors.
- 2. Upon the acceptance of an article that is funded by any funding body, the author of thearticle should pay for a publication fee, according to the rates set by the board of directors.
- 3. When the length of the manuscript exceeds the guided limit of JGRS, the author should pay for the extra part, according to the rates set by the board of directors.
- 4. The detailed rates related to the publication fees should be set by the society.
The editorial board ought to keep the papers published in JGRS in digital form (computer files).
X. Copyright of the published articleThe authors retain the copyright to their works, published in the Journal. However, the Society is permitted by the authors to copy, distribute, and transmit their articles (in the same format as published in the Journal) through information networks, such as internet with or without charge.
Supplementary Provisions
- 1. Any revision of the Editorial Rule will be decided by the Executive Council.
